first day of work numbness

december 1, 2010 marks my first day at work. in my 26 years of existence, i know i have worked hard. i study hard. i try to do things to the best of my abilities. i cherish my relationships and all its trappings. uncannily, after 23 years of studying and carefree existence, the scene has changed. i now have an 8-to-5 job.

i tell myself, this is really the beginning of what lies ahead. phew...

breathe in. breathe out.

now if i could just find the right outfit for tomorrow, hmmm...

countdown to last days of law school...

reminiscing.
breathing.
taking a plunge.
making hard choices.

my quarter life crisis just got better. im sure im going to miss my friends in law - blockmates, portians, other law people. im sure im going to miss my routine - aral (?), inom, portia parties, block parties. im sure im going to miss a lot of things that happened in the last four years.

and now im facing another reality. no to dependency. no to allowances from parents. no no no to a lot of things. the buck stops here. owen - you are really growing up.

destined to be a planner

Everybody seems to think I am a great planner/organizer/leader. Ever since i can remember, they always elect me to be a committee chairman of that, head of a project, even head cheerdancer for crying out loud. Admittedly, I am not a great doer but I am the person who knows the people who do specific things well.
To make the long story short, I make things happen because I know the right people who can deliver.

So today is the epitome of that destiny.
Why I know this will always be what I will be though of...

1) Yearbook
Having finally organized the Balance of Payments, I outlined the details of the Deadlines for the Yearbook Team.
So we can keep the deadline that we will have our yearbooks before our graduation.

2) US trip
Because Raffy is so busy, I finally typed and emailed out travel plans to our relatives abroad so they will know when we will visit them and when they will fetch us if they have the time. Ala travel coordinator. Complete with flight details and where to stay.

3) Nenok Christmas Celebration
When some of my barkada went to Antipolo last weekend and did not find any place for us to stay during our weekend Christmas celebration, I googled all possible locations - from Manila hotels to Bulacan resorts. Finally, it was narrowed down to Liwaswas Kawayan, Sitio Lucia and St. Agatha Resort.

4) OLA Christmas Party
Apparently, I was volunteered by some of the Team Leaders of our batch that I would be a good point person for the Christmas Party program. I gave them a workable outline for any successful party - great food, entertainment (games, awards, show), even greater booze. Anyway, I passed the task to the batch reps.

Take note: This all happened during my Thursday weekend (since Sat and Sun I have bar review).

Grabe, I'd really want to die right now. I am so tired. Hay. Burn.
RTC Mandaluyong, wait for me tomorrow.

seven years of mind-boggling conversations

technology always fascinates me. it's always there when you need to do something quicker or better. it's always somehow a solution to every problem.

hailing from a science high school, we were bombarded left and right with what technology has to offer to our society. we were oriented in the back end of it all - programming, equipment that measures this and that.

but i was not swallowed by the system. i was the type of person that skimmed through it all and picked just the technology i really needed e.g. PC and internet circa 1994, beeper circa 1998, cell phone circa 1999,
laptop circa 2002, PDA circa 2003, digital camera circa 2004, iPod circa 2006

i chose the simplest form of gadget that had whatever functions i needed and that was it. actually, i just get the cheapest gadget and maximize the features of such gadget.

now, here comes my boyfriend - the ultra techie guy! you can imagine how inferior i felt whenever he mentions programming languages, niche web sites, new trends and events. but somehow, i had to take it inot stride and absorb whatever he said.

he was the type of guy who learned old and new programming languages in his spare time. i'd buy him during my travels and amazon shopping programming books he could not find here in the philippines. our conversations would be cut short in the evenings and his weekends will be filled with projects from designing, programming to plainly surfing the new for something interesting in the tech world. he is the type of guy who appreciated shrek because of how prince charming's hair moved with such CG grace.

i am the girlfriend of the most innately techie person i know. i had to (at first) pretend i was interested. and try to understand what he was saying. but after a while, it grew on me. his interests made sense and sometimes i would also tell him something interesting. before my first reaction to tech problems was to contact him. but now, i learned the power of google and research.

hopefully this blog will showcase everything moi and i represent - the perfect mix of techie and non-techie insights. enjoy!
